Christmas Sharing

“Christmas Sharing” is a longstanding fundraiser The Lighthouse has hosted for over a decade. Each year, local residents, businesses, and churches come together to raise funds that allow any family in Clay County the opportunity to receive a gift certificate for each family member. These certificates can be redeemed at participating local businesses. In partnership with Clay Center Public Utilities, certificates can even be applied toward utility bills.

For many families, simply being able to keep the lights on is a true blessing, and any gifts beyond that are a joyful bonus.

Shop with a Cop

Families experiencing the greatest need are also nominated by school counselors to participate in our Shop with a Cop event. During this special day, children shop alongside a police officer, firefighter, or EMT at Gibson’s with a budget of $100 per child. It’s amazing to see their generosity. Many buy coats, shoes, or gifts for their family members, and the Christmas Sharing committee will help them wrap presents that day. Of course, we make sure the kids get something fun for themselves too!

Every child in the families selected by the school counselors (ages 3 and up) receiveds this opportunity to shop. The morning begins with a breakfast provided by the Elks, followed by a local pastor sharing the Christmas story.

Donations to the Christmas Sharing fundraiser will benefit both programs.
